New to you Layouts!

Here are a few new to you layouts for you to check-a check-a out! Four were from a DT call that I did not make :( but at least I tried right?! Well anyway, I hope that you like them, I worked really hard on them and have been dying to share! Hope you like them!

Dream....A Love Story

This was such a beautiful layout to make for me! I was inspired by XOXO Girls Challenge #8 sponsored by Snobby Walrus and Scraplifted the talented Jennifer. I used The Pink Ninja’s Prompt Prompt:#36 Dream a little- Technique: no pattern paper with Pink twist: buttons. I also incorporated Creative Prompts 4 U Challenge #13 Love Story.

Here is Jennifer's Layout, I stuck to it pretty close cause it totally worked with what I was looking for

"Dream"

Journaling "I never dreamed in a million years that I would have the family that I have today.I feel so blessed to call myself a mother and a wife. My children bring me a joy that I truly can't explain, it is like living life through them at he same time as experiencing my own. My husband gives me everything I need to exist, the love, respect,and appreciation. I never dreamed that one day I would have "that family", I never dreamed I could ever be so loved."

My lace was pretty big, so I folded it over to make a fake double trim, misted hearts and stars in the corner with my new mist!

Made my own "bling" flourish with glossy accent and some new glitter!

I used some new embossing powder to color the chipboard letters and my new mist to color the artisan scroll

Grandma and Me

I have been staring at a layout by Dana to scraplift for the XOXOGirls Challenge #8 which is being sponsored by Snobby Walrus but couldn't figure out what I wanted to do. Then the Dolls over at the Design Dollies Blog set up the Color Challenge for Kraft and Bright Colors and my mojo kicked in! I decided I was gonna also incorporate their Elements Challenge which was a recipe for your layout.

***PLEASE NOTE: in my bright color frenzy I totally painted over my Kraft color so...hum maybe it will still qualify?

So Here is Dana's Layout that I scraplifted cause I am a rebel like that!

My Recipe was:

1) 3 Different Patterned papers, SAME manufacturer if possible (Sassafras)
2) A tag (my hidden journaling on top)
3) An UNCOLORED stamped image (I have two the crown and family)
4) RED ribbon(s) (wasn't sure if my trim counted so I added red ribbon on  my tag)
5) Something lime green (background paper)

"Grandma and Me"

Hidden journaling "July 2006 mommy and me went to California to visit, this is the very first time I got to meet my Grandma Marda"

This is My Step Mom Marda holding Noah when he was 7 months old, this was the very first day we got there and the very first time she had ever met her 1st Grandson!

All the red {was} brown but I kept thinking it looks so dull so I painted it forgetting it was supposed to be brown :/

That's How I Roll........

So, I have been scrappy happy and kickin layouts out like it's nobodies business...First up I completed yesterday but forgot to upload it...my mind is a giant cluster right now! So I won't keep you waiting much longer! I have another submission this month for Challenge Masters for their April Color Challenge Sally drew her inspiration from this ad and pulled these colors for us to base our layout on. The idea behind my layout was taken from the original post from Sassafras with the same idea (roll), I just had to do it too!

"That's How I Roll"

This is Edward when he was about 4 months old, this was my "containment chair" for when I was busy, he was a VERY early crawler. Noah being the good big brother he was, always would unhook his belt but knew better than to try and pick him up out of the chair...so there he was  unstrapped but stuck in his chair. The little Houdini would thrust his legs up like a backward sit up which would scoot him down each time. When he thought he was low enough, he would thrust his legs to the side attempting to roll, eventually he would "roll" out of the chair in a very flailing matter.. the little Houdini was unstoppable after that.

Weekend of Work

For your viewing pleasure I have some fun scrapbooking layouts, notebooks, and cards! This was a productive weekend amongst the tragedy that occurred here Friday that I will refer to as "The Incident" as I was getting ready to head to my 2 day crop. I had put all of my glimmer mist, embossing powder, distress powders,shimmerz paints, mod podge, glossy accent, chalks and glue in my Caboodle to carry. I had put it by the front door, went in my room to change, then pack my carry all...came around the corner to find this...which is only what they dumped here, the rest was up directly into the trash can..most of the mist and chalk were ok,and my glossy accent had 1/4 left, both my crackle paints survived as well as one of my mod podges everything else went to the scrappy graveyard....moment of silence.....My niece and Edward, my youngest were both found at the scene of "The Incident" though neither fessed up, the paint and powder from Ava's head to toe was a clear indicator who had the most fun :/

Thanks to the ears and eyes of some super great people I have made it though "The Incident" with only about 3 straight hours of sobbing hysterically followed by another 10 on and off and am working on a plan to rebuild my supply one piece at a time!

I did manage to however get some things accomplished at my crop and yesterday, so with out further ado..


I used Sketch My World April 1st Sketch  to guide my creation.
I incorporated Paper Secrets Challenge #3 for use of Crimson, Butter cream,and Green Apple.
I had so much fun with my Cry Cry Baby layout for Candy Shoppe Designs U Crack Me Up Challenge to scrap some funny/embarrassing moment I had to do another one!

Edward was only about a month old and we were sitting on the couch and I was trying to "capture" some sweet brotherly love moments. As I am looking through the camera I realize Edward has some boogies and say it out loud...Noah being the loving brother he is, decided to help him out with his booger situation...His face is priceless...

"It is said "You can Pick your friends,

and you can pick your nose.

But you can't pick your friends nose....

But!!!

You can pick your brothers nose!"

Next up is my very first Card Challenge! I was a little nervous as it is such a smaller space to work with but I think I did pretty good here! I follwed 2 Sketches 4 you Kazan's Sketch #50 I moved the ribbon to the left simply because I couldn't fit my words!! I hope you like it! I had fun with it and plan on doing their bonus challenge so stay tuned!

SO I decided to try another card challenge over at Sketch and Stash Challenge and what I loved was you have to use something in your stash that you never have...hum that will be hard (yeah right) Here is my take on their sketch...I made Best Friends Card...using both the center sticker and lower sticker from an unopened pack from a yard sale grab bag from last August.

Cry Cry Baby Layout Submission!

I used  Sketch 181 from Pencil Lines this weeks guest designer, Elizabeth Kartchner to get my creative juices flowing and the chance to win a RAK full of American Craft goodies was just icing on the cake!

My color scheme was inspired by  Scrap The Art Challenge #4 inspiration from Larry Rivers Rainbow Rembrandt, 1977. I was a little intimidated by the challenge at first and set the picture as a desktop item to try and inspire me. When I sat down to start my layout, no papers were right! It was then I came across the perfect set that I realized I was staring at Rainbow Rembrandt in my pages! Their blog candy is supplied by KimPrints

I also incorporated  Challenge Masters , April Technique Challengeto create flowers using a faux technique. I made this flower by, stamping, glimmer misting, scrunching and layering!.

Cry Cry Baby
This is my oldest son Noah when he was around 6 months old. He loved loved loved my brother Darrin from day one, so this picture is just hilarious to me. My brother obviously has a great sense of humor and joined in on the crying... Noah looks so pitiful here but I just can't seem not to laugh!

Layouts Layouts Everywhere!

I am submitting this layout to Creative Prompts for their Alphanumeric Heartbreak Challenge. When I saw the picture Alphanumeric Heartbreak it made me think of time which lead to how precious it is and it inspired this layout.
Layout : In a moment everything can Change
My youngest Edward had these spells where he would start turning blue and pass out. After several episodes we became worried and consulted the doctor. After a year of being told it was just an accident or we were miss-interpreting his spells (for what?) he had an episode so bad I nearly couldn't wake him. We were sent to a neurologist who had him go through, several tests. We received a call that he had shown activity in his eeg that lead them to believe he was having seizures. It was in that moment everything changed. We were uncertain how to handle the news and after reading thousands of articles on treatments we were even more uncertain about treatments and medications. We as parents decided not to medicate and continue with therapy. I couldn't accept the diagnosis, as a mother I felt I knew it was wrong but as a person I had no medical proof. We decided to ask for a second round of test to confirm the initial diagnosis as neither I nor Robert were satisfied with a vague answer. It was then we found out that the person who preformed the test incorrectly did something which lead to false readings. We continued our visits with the neurologist to monitor him and his spells, and eventually told he was holding his breath in fits of extreme emotions. He now still trys to hold his breath but is able to gasp the air enough to catch his breath.

"The way you look at me is ahhh..."

I picked up on all the golds, browns and reds on the dresses. I looked at my paper rack saw this stack and went to work. I had this photo of Robert (my husband) that I had been wanting to scrap so I went with it.

Challenge #2 Destination Ireland
we had to pick from a list of 10 of the most common Irish Proverbs and include a four leaf clover
I picked "Do not resent growing old, for many are denied the privilege"

This is a picture our dog Diamond's puppy Gucci, who after a series of unfortunate actions by several careless people lost his life.

 

We were supposed to include a four leaf clover somewhere in out layout, I thought seeing as though a four leaf clover is so hard to find rather than using a cut out of one I would mask one. I thought it was fitting for the piece, rather than showing luck, the absence of it.

Taking things at face value, literally...

My oldest son Noah takes Karate every Tuesday and Thursday here at our local ATA. He is 4 years old and a Camouflage belt already so he has worked very hard to learn his moves as most kids were much older than he to begin with. The problem with him, and many kids his age is they take things literally. Which don't get me wrong that can be one of the joys of childhood to see things at face value however sometimes it can work against them. Yesterday in class, they were testing for their "red" stripe, before I go further I will explain striping. For each lesson they learn a particular series of moves they get tested once they pass that lesson(moves) they get a "black" stripe, then once they learned all the lessons (moves) they get a final overview of all the lessons(moves) and if they pass, they get the "red" stripe which means they are ready to be tested to move on the the new belt. The teachers set up this awesome obstacle course type thing in which every obstacle to pass they must do a series of their moves to go further. Noah kicked but the entire course until he had to do a double kick (two kicks without putting your foot back down) which I know what you are thinking that takes balance and a 4 year old doesn't have balance. Actually Noah has already mastered the double kick, you can ask his brother Edward who is often on the receiving end of it :) but apparently when his teacher asked him to kick twice he did just that kicked twice. So she asked him again to kick twice don't put your foot down and as children often do he took her literally, kick, foot down, kick, held foot up :/ Needless to say he did not get his red stripe... was not in attendance as I wasn't feeling great so when Noah got home I asked him to "kick twice" he did flawlessly....next week that stripe is ours!

So enough about me and on to the good stuff! This is a layout I completed about a week ago. I worked on it for several days as it was my very first attempt at a "vintage"  feel layout. I don't have much supplies in the area of vintage however armed with my making memories distressing kit, Tim Holtz distressing inks and crackled paint I feel I did a decent job....well actually I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY LAYOUT! So much I think I am gonna frame it!

"Where ever you Lead, I will always Follow"

I used the sander in the making memories kit to "rough" it up and make it look like it has seen some better days, I love how some white holes came up here and there! Then I used my ink blender tool with some distressed ink as well as some stains to enhance the aged look. This photo started out so bright and colorful I am so proud of myself looking at it now!

 Hand made flower close up, I am in love with that flower it is just so gorgeous to me! I had seen several of them on various layouts and tried and failed to make it so many times I was so happy when I finally figured out the secret!
